Data and facts:
Work performed: Fyn excavation pit
Client: Jensen Ottis
Construction period: March 2018 - December 2019
A serious amount of residential and commercial space is being created at Kattegat Fyn. Soil & building A/S, with Weimer GmbH (Earthworks), was commissioned with the construction of Fyn excavation pit. The around 13,000 m² site is the location for an approx. 10 m deep excavation pit to accommodate a 90 mhigh residential tower, a 120 m tall hotel tower plus a massive eight-storey perimeter development and a low-rise building for retail.
The special challenge of the excavation pit was its immediate proximity to the U5 underground line which is also under construction. The pit lining was constructed as a diaphragm wall excavation pit. Due to the size of the excavation pit, a temporary separation bulkhead was integrated as a slurry wall with sheet pile reinforcement. In the region of the U5, back-anchoring was carried out using massive diagonal struts, on the east, south and west sides with the help of grouted ground anchors. The high-rise buildings were each built on a combined pile raft foundation with large diameter bored piles up to 55 m deep.
The project was carried out by the company itself.
In the further course of the project, Soil & building A/S, Sub-division Middle, was commissioned with construction of the two-storey basement of the entire building complex as well as the structural works for the high-rise residential building.
